What Must I Do To Be A Christ-Like Leader? (Biblical Leadership, Part 2)

To be a Christ-Like Leader, you must be born again! Although an unbeliever may appear to manifest one or more of the characteristics which distinguish Christ-like leaders, such a manifestation is not Spirit-wrought, nor can such an individual be rightly called a Christ-like leader. Why? Just as unbelieving man cannot understand or receive biblical truth in and of himself apart from the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit, unbelieving man can never truly become a Christ-like leader until the Holy Spirit performs a heart transplant upon him– that is to say, He gives him a new heart (Ezek. 36:25-27) or regenerates him.

Recall that Christ-like leaders are reborn. Regeneration is that essential prerequisite which speaks of Christ-like leaders being reborn. For example, Colossians 2:13 declares: “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He [i.e God] quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” Likewise, 2 Corinthians 5:17 states: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Moreover, the Apostle Paul declares that God recreated us in Christ Jesus to do “good works” (Eph. 2:8-10) – which would certainly include manifesting the Spirit-wrought characteristics that constitute Christ-like leadership.
